Science Bulletin Week Beginning
20th April

Laptops
The next few weeks before and after Easter is a crucial time for getting the year 11 applied science coursework to be finished. During this time the applied classes will have to have priority with the laptops.

But if you do desperately need then they could be split 3 ways but each class will then only have 7/6

The ICT rooms are less busy on Tue, Wed and Thu or if you have small groups see if the library can be booked

We could afford to

Locking Doors
This is becoming a real health and safety issue. As Science teachers we are legally responsible for locking labs after we have been in them. If a child gets harmed because you have not locked a lab then you can be sued. Please please ensure you lock all rooms and prep rooms when you leave them.

Students should also never be in prep rooms, not even for a removal. The procedure is if they reach a C3 they are to be sent with work and a slip to room 46, a sixth form lesson or to a pre-arranged teacher. Never just put in a prep room.
If students turn up with no slip or work they will be sent back to you.

Golden Lesson Plans
Thanks to everyone for their golden lesson plans for last half term, if you have not sent yours yet can you do so ASAP.
State of Labs
Please there has been little improvement since last time this request went out
The cleaners have spent Easter during a thorough clean up of the labs.
They were appalled by all the rubbish.
At the department meeting on 29th April all staff will be allocated to a room and asked to clear it up.

Performance Management
Observations for the next term can be either for your current or new timetable. Who will be observing you will be sorted out so that TW or AMH have seen everyone between them

Goggles
These are being damaged by students pushing out parts of the plastic surrounds. Please keep and eye on students when they are using them as the surrounds must be complete for health and safety reasons.

Year 9
Any students in your groups that are underachieving by 2 sub levels or more can the names be passed to HC/FK for intervention purposes. The data you should use to identify these are your in class tests as well as progress tests.
Could you pass to them the name/ group/current level/target level
